Racewear for Oaks Day

Final

Horse racing and the culture has eluded me for much of my life. In the States we have the Kentucky Derby every May, but here in Melbourne there's a week's worth of races, fashion and festivities. For the first time since moving to Melbourne I'll be attending Oaks Day in the Yarra Valley (also known for its wine!) next week.

  • I purchased this lovely beaded shift dress at Portmans last weekend -- I really took a leap of faith when I bought it. Thing is, I hadn't asked my boss if I could go - thankfully he said yes.
  • Nude peep toe pumps go with pretty much eveything and won't detract from what I think is a pretty glamorous dress. Note to self: must bring flats when all else fails!
  • This flowery corsage will adorn my wrist in lieu of wearing jewellry.
  • Instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars for a luxe fascinator I'd probably only wear once, I've opted to wear this lovely headband Scott bought for me in Italy last year.

On a completely different note, Happy Halloween to everyone in the States! And to the East Coasters, hopefully the worst of Hurricane Sandy is through.

Burberry's The Orchard in Suede Stripes

What's blackcurrant and plum with golden hardware? That would be Burberry's Orchard bag.

On me, the Orchard bag is pretty hefty, but Blake Lively makes it look ten times better on the set of Gossip Girl. I might not reach Amazonian heights, but I can rock it just as well.

A quick hello and update..

Hey Everyone! Scott and I are about to embark on a weekend together in Sydney for our wedding anniversary and my birthday. Yeah, we eloped two years ago today :)  Crazy how time flies so quickly.  But before we jet off, I wanted to leave you with a few tasty morsels from my week.

First up, the Too Faced lippie I purchased last week was I want Candy.  Jury is still out on performance, however, I've been enjoying its creamy texture.

On Wednesday night I attended Melbourne Spring Fashion Week and had a blast playing with my new camera. During the 30 minute show I took over 2,000 photograph - I viewed the whole event through the camera! For the night I wore this shirt from Sass & Bide, I lined my eyes with Illamasqua's Glister and applied Naked Rose on my cheeks.

Currently wearing Butter London's Scouse on my nails.  It's the perfect shade of 'birthday girl' blue!

Finally, I woke up to Birthday-versary hugs and these this morning...

I'm officially beyond spoiled and lucky!

A few other tidbits...

Did you know Target Australia was asked to remove counterfeit MAC products from their shelves?

Have you seen Chanel's Rouge Allure lip range?  It looks stunning!  Rouge Allure features 16 beauteous shades.

Fashion's Night Out took place last night, did you spy/buy anything lovely?

Thats about it for now.  Have a lovely weekend and for those of you who live in Melbourne, tether yourself down so you don't blow away!

Sass & Bide's The Subdivision top in black.  Dress it up or down.  The sequin collar had me at hello.

Miu Miu's purple Mary Janes.  I've been on the hunt for a new pair of Mary Janes since I destroyed my much loved Steve Madden pair.  I know Miu Miu is a major step up, but how can you not love the hint of silver sparkle on the inside of the heels?

3.1 Phillip Lim's Pashli Messenger in bright fuchsia. Side seam zippers for functionality and fashion - carrying a bit more than usual today?  No problem!  To the Celine Luggage Tote: eat your heart out!
