Fall

Fall

For me Fall doesn't mean you have to put the many colours of summer in storage. For those cooler days, just add a cute pair of socks, a soft cardigan or a striped blazer. Here are my personal picks / potential purchases to help spice up my wardrobe...

1. Keds + Kate Spade, $75.00 USD - all things are coming up Kate in March with the release of this joint venture and her new Saturday collection. My tootsies are smitten!

2. Rainbow Row Dress by Mod Cloth, $79.99 USD - the cute row houses conjure up happy memories from Amsterdam.

3. Half Circle Bag by Kate Spade Saturday, $160.00 USD - cheaper than Coach's Penny bag and to boot, you can wear Kate's bag three different ways. A limited-time offering of this collection is available over at Fab.com for a few more days.

4. Chillin' in Chi-town by BB Dakota, $59.99 USD - so pretty coming and going. And you can't knock chevron stripes -- Charlie Brown didn't.

5. Lace Me Up Wedge by Gorman, $249.00 AUS - it's a splurge, but I can't take my eyes off of these. Must.Maintain.Self-restraint.

6. 1969 Legging Skimmer jeans from Gap, $69.95 USD - prints and solids scream, "wear me and have a bit of fun!"

Psst, to the gals in the Northern Hemisphere: take heed for Spring too ;)

What are your Fall must-haves?

Underwear that's fun to wear -- Underwear of Sweden

It's a hot day and you want to hit the beach or the pool after a hard day at work, but shoot, you forgot your bathing suit! Well, that's when Underwear of Sweden's Swimmable Underwear comes to the rescue -- Helene Pilhage, owner and designer, started her company to help women in this sort of predicament. For a lot of Australians (including myself) who live and work near the six major cities of this beautiful continent are within driving, walking and cycling distance to some of the loveliest beaches in the world. With Australia's scorching heat during the summer, sweet relief can be sought by jumping in the water. And why not take the plunge in something really cute too?

Recently I selected a set (non-swimmable) to try on myself, but I ran into a slight problem. The sizes I chose run on the smaller side -- I could get the garments on, however, it wasn't cute :( For review purposes I'll go into detail about the quality, look and feel.

The Eve bra and brief are both made of nylon and elastane for a silky smooth feel and fit. The white lace detailing plays well with the red floral pattern, further enhancing the girlish sentiment of the garments. The stitching is of the highest quality, which leads me to believe this underwear is built to wear, wash and last.

I have a feeling the likes of Bettie Page, Rita Hayworth and Eva Gardner would give this brand their stamp of approval. Romantic, playful and (fun)ctional.

Underwear of Sweden isn't a brick and mortar store, so do take care in selecting your sizes accurately. Their price points are comparable to Victoria's Secret, Cotton On and most department store brands.

Like what you've seen here? Underwear of Sweden is an Australian brand -- international shipping is available and they even accept Paypal!

Love, Lust, Loathe: A smattering of my thoughts on Season 4 Project Runway Australia

Ahhh, Project Runway, I've been watching you since the very first season and when I circled the globe to move to Melbourne, I started watching the Australian version as well. The kookiest designers make for the most entertaining, but not necessarily the most talented. Upon my return from the States, I sat down for an epic PR Australia viewing session; I was several episodes behind and I may've found out who won before watching the final episode. The road to glory for Miss Christina Exie was bumpy, interesting and extremely shocking. Without further ado, let me address my final thoughts, in no particular order, below.

  • The final three, or so we thought, were revealed. Tristan, Leah and Jamie made it to the final runway challenge.
  • Former Real Housewife of NY Countess Luann once exclaimed, "money can't buy you class." Well, a $300 budget didn't secure a win for William and in the end he was sent packing. His ploy to handicap Leah with the smallest budget turned out to be his Achilles' heal.
  • Towards the end of the season it was tough to tell where Jamie ended and where Tristan began. The footage of the two of them cackling, ironing, sewing and gossiping together made me wonder why they could be so quietly cruel, yet competitive at the same time. And in the end, did their friendship get in the way of either one securing the final win of the season?
  • Each finalist was consistently inconsistent. One week they'd win or be in the top three and by the next week they were circling the drain.
  • Alex Perry and Megan Gale, what was your angle with giving Jordan and Christina a second chance?
  • And, did anyone think Christina would sneak in and take it all?!
  • To Leah, will you make me a jacket? The one with the curved metal inserts in the shoulders?
  • There was a refreshing and real moment when Alex Perry helped Leah in the workroom during the model fittings.
  • Finally, did Christina win because, while her aesthetic is viewed/classified as avant-garde, she wouldn't necessarily make it on her own had she lost?

Here's a look at what these talented designers churned out for the final challenge.

My personal favourite designer of the season is Leah; I think she would've won had she lacked the business acumen she possesses and was repeatedly praised for by the judges.

So, what are your thoughts on this season's happenings?

Gosh darn it... you've done it again Adriano Goldschmied!

Yeah, I tried these on last week and refused to purchase them for $188.00 USD. Anthropologie, I will stalk you so hard until these babies are marked down. I will drool or breakdown and buy them -- let's see what'll happen.
